Modus Operandi Wins $1.3 Million Missile Defense Contract
for Ballistic Missile Defense Consequence Management System

MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 16, 2007 – Modus Operandi, a leading software and information integration technology company, has been awarded a $1.3 million contract by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The two-year contract, entitled "CloudWall: Intelligent Consequence Management," was awarded under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. As part of MDA’s mission, consequence mitigation and management is the process of notifying government and military officials of the potential consequences of falling debris and the primary and secondary effects of ballistic missile engagements over the United States and coalition territories.

Modus Operandi's innovative Cloudwall approach combines standard advanced fallout prediction models with a real-time semantic reasoning architecture to generate situation-specific consequence mitigation notification plans. The CloudWall solution will provide a human-machine interface (HMI) for consequence mitigation analysis that communicates with other Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications HMI display components by transmitting overlay images through a semantic service-oriented architecture. Modus Operandi will harness their powerful Wave® product to integrate and process large data sets for consequence mitigation visualization and notification. CloudWall will enable Ballistic Missile Defense System operators to better understand the consequence management situation and to provide notification to the appropriate civilian and military personnel within the expected area of threat.

Says Modus Operandi President and CEO, Peter Dyson, “CloudWall’s Intelligent Consequence Management technology supports the MDA’s responsibility to provide vital situational awareness notifications to government and military officials should a ballistic missile event occur. Military commanders and national leaders can be properly warned and appropriate coalition procedures can be deployed based upon the situation. By leveraging and extending our Wave product line, CloudWall will provide a single, visual solution for MDA that can also be applied to other emergency response situations where instantaneous notification plans can save lives and property.”
