Modus Operandi Awarded Contract in Support of the Army’s Network Centric Data Strategy

MELBOURNE, Florida, Jan. 3, 2008 – Modus Operandi, a leading software and information integration technology company, has been awarded a $730,000 Phase II Small Business Innovation Research contract by the U.S. Army. The two-year contract, entitled Harmony, was awarded in support of the Army’s net-centric Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) strategy and the Distributed Common Ground System – Army (DCGS-A) program.

The Harmony contract focuses on harmonizing disparate metadata models through analysis of their lexical and semantic elements. Harmony will help analysts with visibility and understandability of information by leveraging semantic discovery, search, and retrieval across the net-centric ISR domain. Modus Operandi’s approach is to develop and transition the new capabilities of full semantic-based discovery across communities of interest (COIs) using harmonized ontologies and models that overcome the challenges and limitations of different vocabularies, schemas, and data formats. These new semantic capabilities will be integrated into the Wave product line.

Says Modus Operandi President and CEO, Peter Dyson, “Making data visible, accessible and understandable are cornerstones of the Army’s net-centric data strategy. Our technology offers an innovative approach to the challenges of ISR information understandability. The new capabilities developed under the Harmony project will extend our Wave product line to reduce the costs and timeframes for integrating disparate intelligence information across domains and COIs. The overall result will improve production, analysis and dissemination of ISR products.”
