PRESS RELEASE
Modus Operandi , Inc. Selected to Team with Sverdrup to Streamline and Modernize Cape Canaveral Air Station
MELBOURNE, Florida, September 1, 1998 — Modus Operandi has been selected by Sverdrup, Inc. to participate in a $185M contract to streamline and modernize operations at Cape Canaveral Air Station (CCAS) .
Sponsored by the DoD and NASA, the Launch Operations and Support Contract (LO&SC) for CCAS will provide the infrastructure required to schedule, process and launch the Delta, Atlas and Titan rocket fleets. One of the major goals of the LO&SC is to improve operational efficiency and reduce the cost of maintaining the launch infrastructure, which will ensure that Spaceport USA maintains its leadership role in the highly competitive space launch operations marketplace. Commercial space programs are seen as the new engine of growth for the next generation of launch operations. However, the competitiveness of this new market demands new and innovative ways of operating and maintaining the launch base. Modus Operandi will apply two of its leading-edge technologies to help achieve these contract objectives.
Modus Operandi will leverage its scenario-based knowledge capture techniques, which were developed under the Scenario Generation for Early Requirements Identification contract, to elicit and capture the launch operations process information. This information will then be analyzed to target priority integration efforts that will improve the efficiency and reduce the costs associated with launch operations processing. Scenario data captured in the scenario-based knowledge capture structure during this process will also be used to generate Use Cases that accurately reflect the operations of each of the launch vehicles.
The Catalyst integration will also improve mission readiness and efficiency by permitting global analysis of operations that are not possible in a traditional stove piped operation. The integrated system supported by Catalyst will provide new capabilities for supporting more efficient launch operations at CCAS.
