Modus Operandi Modus Operandi Wins U.S. Navy Contract
MELBOURNE, Florida,February 13, 2001 – MELBOURNE, Florida, October 24, 2003 - Modus Operandi, a leading business transformation and information technology solutions company, has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Dahlgren, Virginia.
The $70,000 contract, titled SE-WAVE: Systems Engineering Wide Area Virtual Environment, will leverage and extend Modus Operandi's collaborative enterprise information integration system, WAVE. The overall goal of the SE-WAVE project is to develop tools that will reduce the costs and risks of system engineering activities on large Navy programs such as the DD(X) future surface combatant.
A key aspect of WAVE relating to this effort is its virtual object-oriented data repository which connects engineering applications to provide a common logical model of all engineering information. SE-WAVE will extend WAVE to simplify the navigation and analysis of engineering data, and shorten the span between analysis and action. By providing seamless integration of engineering data, systems engineering analyses such as traceability and consistency-checking become possible on a larger scale. The overall benefit is reduced cost and risk in designing, building and integrating mission-critical systems.
Says Modus Operandi President & CEO Peter Dyson, "Modern Naval systems continue to grow in scope and complexity, and require both new systems development and interoperability with existing systems. Meeting the challenges of getting the right engineering information, when and where it is needed to achieve mission objectives within budget constraints and risk tolerances is key to overall success. To meet these challenges, solutions must become more sophisticated, and at the same time be easy to use and provide a measurable return on investment. Our SE-WAVE system will help the Navy achieve these important objectives.”
