Modus Operandi Names Dr. Kent Bimson Vice President of Research
MELBOURNE, FL, Nov. 30, 2009 – Modus Operandi, a leading software and information integration technology company, has appointed Dr. Kent Bimson to the new position of vice president of research. He will be focused on achieving Modus Operandi’s research goals that contribute to the overall growth of the company’s intellectual property (IP) portfolio and the delivery of high value to customers.
During the course of his 30-year career, Dr. Bimson has held a number of executive positions – including chief scientist – at leading Fortune-500 companies that include SAIC and Lockheed Martin. For the last eight years, he has been an independent consultant specializing in the area of semantic technologies. He has held faculty positions in linguistics and computer science at the University of California, Davis and California State University, Sacramento. Dr. Bimson holds a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a master’s degree in computer science from California State University, Sacramento.
“Kent has been a key resource and contributor for our projects at the USAF 45th Space Wing and the Air Force Research Laboratory,” said Richard Hull, executive vice president of operations. “He brings a great deal of knowledge and skill in the areas of ontology design, knowledge representation and natural language processing.
